Tankers in the Forth

Although bridges span the approaches of many of the world's ports, few offer pedestrian access. The Forth Road Bridge is an exception, as it has walkways on both sides. The impressive structure is situated north of Edinburgh, Scotland's capital. Car parks, located on both sides of the Bridge, offer spectacular views of the river Forth, the shipping in the river and the Road Bridge itself. The main shipping lane in the Forth is generally well away from the shore, so the pedestrian walkways on the bridge provide some good vantage points from which ships can be viewed at close quarters.
