Trend setting Giants

Few ferry links have a longer history than Holyhead's routes to Ireland. Since the first steam vessels began sailing in 1819, well over 100 different craft have sailed what is now fashionably known as the Central Corridor and, currently, Stena Line and Irish Ferries each employ a pairing of high speed and trend-setting conventional tonnage on services to Dun Laoghaire or Dublin. While Dun Laoghaire was the traditional passenger destination, enjoying car ferry connections from 1965, Dublin has re-invented itself during the last 20 years and is now served by two significant vessels - Ulysses, claimed by Irish Ferries to be the world's largest car ferry, and Stena Adventurer, one of the highest capacity ro-pax ferries yet introduced.
