Swedish America Line introduced what turned out to be its last passenger liner when the twin-funnel Kungsholm, arguably among the best-looking vessels of her generation, set off on a maiden voyage from Gothenburg to New York in May 1966. Although nominally a transatlantic liner, Kungsholm was sumptuously fitted-out and designed with cruising in mind -especially the booming American luxury market.
