Stuck in the ice

At the end of February dozens of vessels were stuck in packed ice in the Gulf of Bothnia in northern Finland, and getting ships out from the ice took ice-breakers more than a week. Owing to strong winds and the heavy ice, almost all ship traffic to and from harbours ground to a halt in northern Finland, with vessels being unable to get to the harbour through the packed ice without the help of icebreakers.
