Finnish owner Langh Ship has developed an exhaust gas emission scrubber in-house and a full scale trial has been running onboard its 120m-long multipurpose cargoship, Laura, since last May. The installation fulfils SOx limits for ECA operation while reducing CO_2, and the classification process of the equipment is underway and expected to be finalised in the near future. The closed loop system was fitted inside the vessel's funnel casing and additional weight totalled 28t. A slight reduction in cargo capacity was necessary in the form of 40ft container unit in front of the deckhouse which was used to clean the scrubber unit. Otherwise, all auxiliary systems for the scrubber were placed within the engine room.
