The January/February issue of S&B featured a full description of the new and innovative 17m, 35-knot pilot boat for the River Humber, UK, and a news report on the order placed for two new 16m pilot boats for New York harbour. As that issue went to press, further news arrived of contracts being awarded for similar craft for Oregon, USA, Newfoundland, Canada and Milford Haven, UK. Linking all of these vessels is Camarc Limited, a UK-based design company headed by naval architect, Alastair Cameron. A closer look at his success seemed warranted.
