In the past few months Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld has delivered three of the latest generation of Shoalbusters to Dutch owners and at least two more are under construction. All five are built to the new Shoalbuster 2609 design incorporating a number of enhancements improving the vessel's range and viability as a seagoing vessel. The Shoalbuster concept was first introduced in 1995 in response to demands from clients in the dredging and marine construction sector for a shallow draught tug with a good towing performance, sufficient buoyancy for lifting and anchor-handling, adequate deck space aft, and provision for a powerful crane.
