Tarka Valley Railway £50,000 appeal

THE TARKA Valley Railway has had a successful year and is poised to complete the trackwork for Phase 1 of its extension project to link Torrington and Bideford (five miles). The appeal is to raise the money needed for the purchase of a right handed point and accessories to lead from the main line to the up side siding at Torrington station. The rail and sleepers needed to complete this first extension are already on site awaiting installation once the new point is in place. Following the acquisition of a lease from Devon County Council in April 2018 for land adjacent to the Tarka Trail, progress on site has been remarkable. Four panels of track have been added, and a new pedestrian level crossing installed, permitting the public to cross to the Tarka Trail.
