While larger beam trawlers are struggling to make ends meet with rising fuel prices, the shrimp sector, which also fishes with beam trawls, but with relatively light gear, is still buoyant and profitable enough to maintain a steady flow of newbuildings joining the Dutch, Belgian, German, and Danish fleet that operates in the North Sea.
