Hong Kong-based Cheoy Lee Shipyards has handed over the first in a new series of multipurpose offshore commercial craft designed by Waertsilae Ship Design Singapore Pte (formerly Conan Wu & Associates) in March 2010. Here we take a look at this interesting design.rnThe operational requirements of the new 50m loa multipurpose vessel will be such duties as anchor handling, tanker handling and berthing, towing barges and rigs, maintenance and pollution control, supply duties and fire-fighting capabilities. The vessel, PB Karepo, is of all steel construction and is capable of carrying out all of these duties. The vessel is constructed to ABS class, with the notation * Al, (E),*AMS, Towing Service. The second delivery has been scheduled for early June, and the remaining two vessels in this construction batch of four are scheduled for handover in late 2010. PB Karepo has been built for PB Towage of Australia and will operate offshore Australia.
