Busy times for Cheoy Lee with multiple tug deliveries

Cheoy Lee handed over the first of the series of 13 Z-Tech azimuth stern drive (ASD) tugs -Calovebora - to the ACP in August 2010, followed by the second - Changuinola I -in October 2010, and the third - Sixaola -in December 2010. The three vessels were delivered on schedule, with the remaining 10 units set to follow this theme, said the shipyard. There will nine units delivered over the course of 2011. The final vessel in the order is scheduled for completion in February 2012. The all-steel constructed vessels are almost identical in configuration to the eight vessels previously ordered and constructed for ACP, however the latest Panama tugs are powered by larger, GE 12V228, 2965hp, engines. These larger engines increase bollard pull capabilities to 65tonnes, from 60tonnes previously, in both ahead and astern directions.
