Ora's battery-powered fishing boat Karoline has hit the waves, constituting another triumph for Scandinavia's evolving and thriving green craft technology hub. Built and designed by Norway's Selfa Arctic, the 10.99m loa, one-man, fibreglass vessel utilises a Volvo Penta D4-180 generator to drive a Siemens electric motor, generating an output of 60kW at 2,400rpm through a ZF 280-1 gearbox. This also charges a 195kW battery bank, supplied by Corvus, enabling the boat to carry out typical fishing operations on battery power, thereby reducing the impact of noise and vibrations and fumes on her sole member of crew.
