Jameson on Jameson: Conversations on Cultural Marxism

If Fredric Jameson's theoretical engagement over the course of the last four decades has not encompassed the totality of culture, then totality is at least the regulative Idea of his thought. Jameson's focus has been as broad as his output is tireless; as his commentators never cease to attest, the fact that his writing addresses so many forms of cultural production at the same time that it displays apparent command of an enormous body of contemporary theory suggests that nothing significant has escaped Jameson's critical glance. We should not, however, understand the astonishing range of his work simply as some endless accumulation of individual examples, but rather as the outcome of an attempt to elaborate the cultural object as such.
