Intended as a retrospective of her previous work on the labour process, technological change and gender, this book brings together a selection of Ursula Huws' papers previously published between 1979 and 1999, integrated through a new introduction and conclusion. It may be most rewarding to those seeking to understand how feminist perspectives shaped critical thinking on the human consequences of information technology in the 1980s and early 1990s. I approached these essays with a broader interest both in the political economy of time under capitalism and in the impact of globalization on workers' conditions.
