The origin of life on the earth is still a matter of dispute. However, scientists have agreed that life has originated in water and the first life forms were the unicellular bacteria. Multicellular eukaryotes evolved later. Plants acquire a significant position in today's world. The major evolution within the plant kingdom in time and space has been discussed here.
