While the Safety at Sea International Awards focus primarily on rewarding excellence in programmes, products and services that encourage safety throughout the industry, as in previous years the magazine also paid homage to bravery and seamanship by presenting an award as part of the Automated Mutual-assistance Vessel Rescue System (AMVER) programme.
