Eliminating transfer risk

Marine personnel transfers remain onernof the biggest risk areas associated with the offshore sector. The fatal crash into the North Sea in April of a Super Puma helicopter carrying oil workers added to doubts about that method of transfer. Questions were already being asked following the crash of the same model of helicopter during a transfer in the same region in February.rnMore than 10 million crew transfers take place annually in the offshore sector and while recent crashes have reawakened concerns, the major impediment to helicopter transfers is still range. Marine transfers are often the only alternative, but the use of a vessel does introduce a unique risk - transferring personnel from a moving environment to a fixed platform.
