The US has launched an international naval force to target pirates in the Gulf of Aden. The warships from 23 countries that will comprise Combined Task Force 151 will patrol the Gulf of Oman, the Arabian Sea, Gulf of Aden, other Somali waters, the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea. After being relieved of counter-piracy duties by the new task force, CTF-150 will return to its original mission of stabilisation - countering smuggling of arms, people or drugs, and anti-terrorism operations.
