Maritime training is changing

Although I agree with Captain Doctor IvicaTijardovic ('Training must go back to basics', SASI, June) that fundamental navigation and stability appears to have lost its importance in training regimes, I have found recently that in Australia, at least, the young recruits and mates of some experience are, in the main, more than keen to learn and practise the tools of their trade.
