Emergency vessels given a brief reprieve

Two of Britain's four-strong fleet of emergency towage vessels (ETVs) will be retained for a further three-month period, it was announced in October.The contract that the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) had in place to provide four ETVs around the UK expired on 30 September, but Scottish Secretary Michael Moore said that £3M ($4.6M) would be made available to hire two replacement tugs for the Scottish islands of Lewis and Shetland, the BBC reported.
