A product tanker that grounded on the rocks of Sheffield Beach in South Africa was finally scuttled in the Indian Ocean in September.The 14,506dwt Phoenix was towed some 50nm off the coast and sent down to the ocean floor on 6 September, about 42nm off Durban, the South African online news service News24 reported.The tanker was heading for an Indian breaking beach on 26 July when it grounded at Sheffield Beach, about 32nm north of Durban, after dragging anchor amid foul weather.
