New STCW training offerings take shape

Anglo-Eastern Ship Management's Mumbai training centre staff have developed an STCW 2010-compliant on-board training programme for deck cadets in collaboration with Global Maritime Education & Training (GlobalMET) Association.rnThe director of the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Training Centre, Kersi Deboo, told SASI that his team had been working to complete the project following the Manila conference in June 2010 to update the Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW). GlobalMET has published the Deck Cadet Structured Shipboard Training Programme (SSTP) Record Book and associated Activity Book, together with supplements for oil, chemical and gas tankers. The publications were completed in time for the 42nd meeting of the IMO Sub-Committee on Standards of Training and Watchkeeping (STW).
