The Defence Industrial Strategy: The Holy Grail for SMEs?

The Defence Industrial Strategy (DIS) sets out, amongst other things, the importance of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and the part they play in today's supply chain. The implied increase of involvement of SMEs in the direct defence spend was welcomed initially with open arms by the SME population. But on closer inspection it was apparent that the DIS was not the answer many SMEs had been seeking.
