Save our bridges

Over the course of 2014, Roads & Bridges will dedicate a portion of each issue to the efforts of addressing structurally deficient bridges in the U.S. This month, our Bridge Rescue special section contains a column from infrastructure legend Timothy Garlarnyk as well as an overview of the current situation across the nation and a piece on the Overland Bridge project in Jacksonville, Fla. Every issue in 2014 will contain a one-page column from a bridge expert or a state DOT, and in May and November we will include feature-length pieces on bridges that are being rescued and advances in technology that will make the jobs of bridge inspectors and engineers a little easier.
