A running time model for bus operations in Singapore

Service reliability is an important attribute that determines the quality of service in a public transit operation. Efficient administration provides a consistentlevel of service, benefiting both commuters and operators of the service. This paper presents the results of empirical modeling of bus running times along a particular route in Singapore. The results showed that traffic-light stoppage is the most important factor affecting the running times of buses. The numbers of passengers alighting and passenger stops made, and link distances, are other significant parameters that contribute to the model.
