A survey of clients by Paul Griseri Associates found that while architects are appreciated for their design skills, clients are often looking for a much broader relationship. The survey revealed that understanding the client's brief and needs was the most important benefit that an architect can offer. Understanding the needs of a client and moderating their demands with a professional eye is tricky but vital. Disputes in the courts back this up as architects have a legal obligation to protect clients from themselves.
