Sales of baby food wee value at f344 mn in 1997, having risen by 51 per cent since 1990. Meals accounted for 47.4 per cent of market value in 1997, with milks taking 44.5 per cent. Drinks accounted for a further 5.5 per cent and rusks for the remaining 2.6 per cent. Meals, including chilled desserts for babies, have been the best-performing sector, with sales rising by 81 per cent over the review period. Sales of milks rose by 53 per cent but drinks and rusks are both declining sectors.
