Case study: Orange County Solid Waste Management Department

Orange County, North Carolina conducts a program for in-house events, whereby department staff furnish all compostable or recyclable materials for large-scale county functions, like the department's annual employee winter holiday meal. All compostable and recyclable materials generated from the event are separated on site (e.g., guests place food scraps/recyclables into designated containers), and are then transferred to a central collection site.
