The plan for this outdoor living area was to create a space that functioned as an outdoor living room and could also be enclosed with retractable screens to create real indoor/outdoor living. The greatest challenge was creating an open space that maintained privacy from the adjacent homes. Phil Kean Designs in Winter Park, Fla., chose a solution where the lanai opens to the great room and master bedroom sitting area with automated pocketing glass doors. The lanai floors are of the same material as the interior of the home. A fireplace, TV andrnfurniture help to create an outside living room.
