In "palletless lines", items (e.g. bags) are stacked on top of each other and packed with the help of packaging systems in such a way that a pallet is no longer necessary for the further transport of a product stack. First of all, the bags are piled up to a stack by means of a palletiser. A palletless stack is composed of several normal layers, all of them having the same dimensions, as well as a special layer, which is not a whole layer. Engagement regions are created (also called recesses or gaps), in which the prongs / forks of a fork-lift truck can be inserted to transport the palletless stack.
