The A1A Group's 31271 to move to Llangollen

IN THE last issue we reported on the eviction of the A1A Group from the Nene Valley Railway and the sale of 37240 by the Llangollen diesel group. With increased diesel running days for 2019 at the Llangollen Railway, the group was looking for a loco to cover the gap until it could get both Class 26 D5310 and Class 47 D1566 back into traffic. As the saying goes, as one door closes another one opens, and it came as little surprise when it was announced that 31271 will be moving in April from the NVR to the Llangollen for a two-year stay. The A1A has previously visited the line with 31162 so this is a welcome return for the group. The LR management supporting the visit of 31271 by covering the transport and hire costs.
