Alan Pegler dies

The man credited with saving 4472 Flying Scotsman from scrap and saving the Ffestiniog Railway, Alan Pegler OBE, died after a short illness on March 18, aged 91. The FR issued a statement saying: "It was Alan's intervention in the 1950s that made the restoration of the Ffestiniog Railway a reality and he is owed a tremendous debt of gratitude for his unswerving belief that the restoration of the FR could be achieved.
