After 22 years at the Mid Hants Railway, Peak 45132 has finally left Ropley and moved to its new home at the Epping and Ongar Railway on September 16. There is no timescale for the overhaul of the 45/1 which will now be subjected to a restoration which should see it return to hauling trains for the first time in well over 15 years. However, a better working environment and more volunteers should hopefully see the loco running in the near future. Its biggest issue, a defective main generator, is close to being fixed. The former D22 is one of 11 Class 45s preserved out of 127 built. It is the fifth main line ex-BR loco to be based the blossoming six-mile railway in Essex, joining Class 25 D7523,31438, Class 37 D6729 and 47635 Jimmy Milne. The Class 25 is stopped pending bodywork repairs, which will most likely see the loco taken off site for the work, but the other locos all work.
