Crossrail Unit for Testing

Bombardier's first Class 345 EMU for Crossrail services (345001) is now complete and is due to move to the Old Dalby test track in August. It is to be tested in seven-carformation, but will be extended to eight cars for introduction to service between Liverpool Street and Shenfield, which is due to take place in May next year. Eventually 66 nine-car Class 345s will take over completely on the new Crossrail line, as well as replacing Class 315s on Liverpool Street services. Full introduction is expected to take until 2019 to achieve.
