Not long ago, the mainstream media gave lots of attention to the fact that investor Warren Buffet was a serious stockholder of BNSF and two other railroads. Lots of folks ran out to buy railroad stock on the strength of the fact that Buffet must know what he's doing. I don't know how many of those folks were upset that their money didn't double or triple in a few weeks and sold off their holdings in disgust. If they did, they don't know Buffet and they don't know railroading.
