Athearn: GP9 CP Rail Diesel Locomotive

HO - The Canadian modeler has many reasons to be thankful. In recent times, numerous Canadian prototype high-end models have been released. An excellent recent example is Athearn's Genesis-series HO-scale GP9s presented in an assortment of Canadian paint schemes. These models feature not only diverse decorations, but also various details to replicate these GP9s' in-service appearances over the years. Athearn's GP9 collection includes both Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific (CP) prototypes. For the CN modeler, Athearn's GP9 represents a 1970s-era Phase I car-body decorated in the road's black-and-white "Zebra" scheme with red ends and "wet noodle" herald. In addition to road-specific details in Athearn's 4400-series CN GP9s, individual road number releases possess variations, including "pipe" or "channel" stanchions for handrails and early or late Pyle-Na-tional dual sealed-beam headlights. This enhancement to the Genesis line's attention to detail makes these offerings even more enticing. Rather than four road numbers all decked out in a similar fashion, Athearn has taken on the challenge of providing variations among the same road names in its releases.
