HS2 'full construction' stage to herald huge UK jobs boost

AROUND 22,000 jobs will be created during the construction of HS2 Phase 1, declared HS2 Ltd as it launched 'full construction' of the project on September 4. This stage follows Department for Transport approval in April for HS2 Ltd to issue a Notice to Proceed to the four main works civil contractors working on the project. Work on the route has been under way for many months, but this latest announcement revealed that the project is set to focus on major engineering schemes for the rest of the year, with the main works civil contractors moving from enabling works, scheme design and preparatory work to full construction.
