The 'Huge' Converter: A new Single Stage PFC Converter with one Active Switch, adapted to operate as Boost, Buck-Boost or Buck Topologies

This paper presents a new PFC topology (named "Huge" converter), which is able to operate as step-up or step-down converter. One main transistor regulates output-voltage and input-current shape; two low-frequency transistors select between Buck, Boost or Buck-Boost configurations. A prototype was tested sequencing all three configurations and obtaining high PFC and high efficiency.
