Slicing risk acknowledged by DfT

Following consultation on its funding discussion paper published on January 16, DfT Rail has amended the bidding instructions in the invitation to tender for the new Thameslink EMU fleet.rnBidders have been given a two-month extension to restructure their offers on the assumption that funding will be 'sliced' (or staged) into a 'minimum' of two batches. In return, DfT Rail will commit at financial close to procure the whole fleet subject to finance for Batch 2 being available on acceptable terms.rnDfT Rail confirms that Batch 1 will provide both of the designated depots, as well as simulators and mock-ups together with sufficient EMUs to operate a specified number of diagrams. Batch 2 covers the remaining diagrams.
