Public consultation for construction of the proposed high-speed line between London and the West Midlands was formally launched by Transport Secretary Philip Hammond on February 28. Running until July 29, consultation takes the form of public meetings and other events along the planned 190 km route for HS2 from Euston to a new terminus in Birmingham and a junction with the West Coast Main Line near Lichfield.
