Serco makes progress

Publishing a trading update on July 1, Serco Group plc said that it expected to report revenue 'of not less than £1.7bn' for the first half of 2015. This would be down from £2bn the year before, 'driven by an anticipated organic decline' that reflected the end of contracts including that with TfL to operate the Docklands Light Railway. Serco expected to report a trading profit of not less than £45m in the first half of 2015, unchanged from the year before. Net proceeds of the rights issue launched on March 12 (RB1482 p5) had reduced the group's indebted- ness by £500m, with net debt as of June 30 2015 expected to be £350m compared to £682m as of December 31 2014.
