PPM ends 2014-15 at 89·7%

Network Rail reports that the national average PPM score for Period 13 to March 31, the last period of 2014-15, was 91·2%, slightly below the 91·5% recorded in P13 2013-14. The average MAA PPM stood at 89·7% at the end of 2014-15, and whilst the trend over recent periods has been positive this is still at least partly due to the removal from the MAA calculation of the poor scores recorded in early 2014 when severe weather caused disruption across the network. With the industry focusing increasingly on right-time performance, RBI notes that the year-end MAA figure for trains arriving within 59 sec of booked time was 65·1%, several percentage points lower than the run of scores around 70% achieved between mid-2009 and late 2012. In terms of delay attribution, the MAA at the end of 2014-15 showed 59% of delays attributed to NR, 28% to TOC-on-self and 13% to TOC-on-TOC.
