RAIB investigates Cardiff signalling irregularity

Network Rail's work programme last Christmas included commissioning the final stage of the much-delayed Cardiff Area Resig-nalling Scheme (RB1525 p2). This included track remodelling in and around Cardiff CentTal station plus the transfer of signalling control to the South Wales Control Centre. Some of the new track layout was brought into use on December 29. That morning, as the first train on the Up Llandaff Line over the new layout was leaving Platform 7, the driver noticed that a set of points in the route his train was about to take were not set in the correct position and stopped the train.
