Earlier this year, I brought you some exciting news of a fascinating and groundbreaking flying machine designed, built and flown by a trio of enthusiasts from Germany. They are: Thomas Senkel, designer and pilot; Stephan Wolf, flight-control software guru; and Alexander Zosel, marketing, sales and PR. The original e-volo VC1 was an unlikely-looking contraption and I did wonder at the time whether or not it was an elaborate April fool's joke. Still, with its first manned flight now a year behind it, the VC1 has proven to be a viable concept and has paved the way for the next generation of this unique design.
