This operation is very important for obtaining good results. If the blades installed on the rotor are not well balanced you will see the model dancing the twist and rock and roll on the ground and trembling in flight due to the vibrations generated by the different distribution of their weight. Many times unbalanced blades have generated a crash. How do you balance blades or check their situation? First you have to choose the rotor configuration of two, three or four blades, with each having a similar weight as much as possible. The more blades on the rotor the longer the balancing operation. But, since sooner or later you will damage a blade it is much better to 'stock' some spares. Starting with four blades, the rotor can be transformed in two or three blade configurations.
