Study reveals paper and packaging industries drive technological innovation in adhesive markets

Technological progress will prospectively boost demand for adhesives in mature markets such as North America and Europe. Properties like shorter curing times, better adhesive force on a multitude of substrates and chemical resistance will influence the market, says a study undertaken by Markets and Markets, an Indian market research company. The study finds that the adhesive market will develop from traditionally solvent-containing glues to high-performance products such as reactive and pressure-sensitive hot-melt adhesives. The study presented by the Indian research company also expects that paper and packaging applications will lead the progress in adhesives market in the forecast period until 2021. In 2015, the paper and packaging segment constituted the largest field of glue application. Rising demand for consumption goods in several countries of the world would be a key factor for this segment's growth over the next years because adhesives are used on a big scale in packaging applications, the study said.
