Bellcore, a consortium originally set up to provide engineering and administrative services to the US Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOCs), has announced that it is changing its name to Telcordia Technologies. The company also launched a suite of 'next generation' products designed to upgrade legacy networks and deliver cable, Internet, voice and data over a single network. In the past, the company has worked on the development of technologies such as ADSL, AIN, ATM, ISDN and frame relay, and hopes to continue its role as telecomms pioneer.
