Lydd's wings clipped by secretary of state

The expansion of Lydd airport has made slow progress this year. Shepway District Council granted planning consent in March but the application was called in by secretary of state Eric Pickles in June.A decision on the expansion is now not expected until mid-to-late 2011 after a public inquiry, but operator London Ashford Airport remains confident it will receive planning permission.
