Private investors shift from resi to commercial auctions

Private investors are increasingly turning their backs on the residential sector and buying commercial properties at auction instead. The switch, which has been prompted by the 3% stamp duty surcharge on second-home purchases introduced last April and higher returns in the commercial sector, had become noticeable in the second half of 2016 and was set to continue this year, said auctioneers.
