Ludgate enjoys a good fight. And last week, the Royal Docks' floating village sparked a verbal barney between the London Borough of Newham and the Greater London Authority. Newham mayor Sir Robin Wales accused the proposed scheme of being purely luxury homes out of the financial reach of his borough's residents. But Ludgate's favourite response came from Chris Brown, director of Carillion Igloo Genesis. He mused happily: "Living in a floating home you've helped to design is a dream lots of us have." Err, lots of us? Actually Ludgate prefers to remain on terra firma, thanks.
